I've searched here for this and the amount of info is hard to sort through. So I'll get very specific... I'll be using this gun for IDPA, IPSC, plinking fun, etc. My questions are:

What grain do you recommend? 115, 124, 147 ???

What powder???

What OAL???

Thanks for any advice.

PS I have Unique and Clays on my reloading bench now w/ some 124 and 147 grain bullets. BUT I'm open to hearing what people have tried and found to work well specifically w/ a G19.

The Unique you have will work very well, and give very good velocities if that is what you seek, and can be downloaded and still give good accuracy.

Me and Glocks don't mix (good gun/bad ergos for me) but I'm sure you will find Unique to work, and work well. As far as OAL, way too many variables here to really give you a clear answer to what is best in your pistol.

There are literally hundreds of powder, charge, bullet, and OAL combinations you can use for IPSC/IDPA competition in 9mm Luger. Dozens of powders work equally well, and all three bullets weights work extremely well.

Unique works great with all bullet weights. It's probably your best bet. Clays is a very fast powder utilizing rather small charges. It works very well for 115g and 124g but the powder charge is so tiny for 147g that it's not worth trying.

You need to make 115 move pretty fast to knock down steel. 124 works better. 147 works great but it costs more.

It's a personal choice. Each person will have his/her own preference and many will express their own in this thread. All of them are right, none of them are wrong.
