Anyone tried out the new 9mm conversions for the FAL?
Here's a link or two:
http://www.rhineland1.com/
http://www.rpbusa.com/

The Rhineland one looks slicker, and for the same price...

Anyway, I know handmade stuff can be hit or miss in terms of being excellent quality or pure garbage. On falfiles.com is where the manuacturers post, so i have yet to see a negative story about them.

But Iwanted to spread this question around and see what folks think.

I personally think its a GREAT and cool idea: to make up new items around existing hi-caps, and this one being darn near to the top of the 9mm hi-cap mags as a bonus.

But for 700 bucks, I'd like some feedback first!
Thanks!

In a rifle as weighty as the FN FAL, I'm MUCH rather have the .45 ACP version they offer...

But they both look sharp!

BTW, that $700 you mention is for the whole rifle... that ain't bad at all! $700 would be a good price for a 'smith built FAL in .308 that had been refinished to this quality.

Ive got a buddy that just ordered one (not sure which) it has AR lookin handguards. Anyhow it takes swede sunomi mag's/drums and comes with a couple. 9 ammo is a whole lot cheaper than .45, if you don't load. I'll post later, when it get's here.:D

Thanks guys.
Keeder...
That'd be perfect if you would post an 'initial impression' post, then a 'on the range' post, etc.
Not complaining abt the price FOR THE RIFLE, just that 700 bones is, in abstract terms, a decent chunk of change!

p.s. BTW, a future Second Ammendment Sister was born Friday... The world rejoiceth!

Sounds like a Masterpiece Arms 9MM carbine.
The fake muzzle can is an "option" which I wouldn't get.
I'd Form 1 this bad boy and SBR it.
Looks like it would make a REALLY fun post-sample MG.

I understand that the Masterpiece arms ones (the one pictured) is about 13lbs, whereas the Rhineland one is 7 or 8 lbs.
I still think the Rhineland ones look better, but they are identical in price for a complete unit, and anyone who is looking for a good looking gun is NEVER going to find aesthetics that please everyone.

I am waiting for someone, besides the manufacturer*, to say: yup, just put 14,327 rounds of ball through it without cleaning in a sandstorm and no misfires or jams.

That will be my major criterion.

If not, how about modifying the grip of a hi-point 9mm carbine to accept Suomi drum mags? That would be a lot cheaper...

* spoke to the manufacturers of both: the MPA people say they have had no complaints in the reliability dept from theri sales so far. Rhineland says he would rate his reliability on par with an AK.

The 9mm idea sounds like a step in the right direction, but I think something like the 10mm or .45 would be a better idea. The entire platform is just too heavy to make the 9mm any fun shooting.

I would however buy a .223 FAL in a heartbeat. Especially with the new SAW type furniture from TAPCO.

I agree... .223 FAL would be awesome!

IIRC, I read a post here that Tamara has one, in .223, with the aluminum upper, and again, IIRC, it takes AR mags!

There's not a "jealous" icon on here, but there should be :)

Yeah, sure 223 would be cool i suppose- but then could you get a 71-round magazine for 20 bucks?!?!

I had read the same thing, except I would love one in a steel reciever.

Ya, that's de one mon. Masterpeice arms. He had me put together an Inch. lower for him though, so I hope it work's. I notice they used a metric in the pic. He'll have to go metric elsewhere.....I dont DO metric. But I'll let you's guy's know asap. He had to mail them a copy of his FFL, along with the check, so it's taking some time.:D
