Go to Google and type in your state's name and the words "State Guard".
Depending on your state you may be able to serve in a "Home Guard" type unit. I know New York has one. I believe Texas has one as well. You may not be able to serve on active duty witht he regulars but maybe there is something you can do here.
THIS IS NOT THE "NATIONAL GUARD"!
I am talking about the "STATE" Guard! Good Luck and report back with what you find!;)
