Hi,
i just stumbled across a seller who specializes in crossbows....
While looking thorugh things in my hobby price range
i saw this.
Supposedly the meanest crossbow on the market.
Question: is anyone using this beast... for hunting?

I'd like to see the actual chrono on them with w properly (safely) splined arrow. I'll bet it is in more of the 350+ range maybe 400 tops. Be careful looking at speed specs on a bow from the company who bult it. They allways use a "too light arrow" thatis not properly splined or at proper weight for the bow to shoot safely.
My High Country Four Runner was supposed to be in the 350fps range, with the lightest arrow I can safely shoot and fully cranked up, it chronos at 298. With a properly splined arrow with a proper weight filed point on it it goes out at 280fps....still faster than crap! My last hunt, my arrow went thru a good size deer so fast I though I missed till he fell in a heep about 10yards after I hit him.

"Sniper:"
What were the weights and cross section diameter of those bolts?
I ask, because it would be interesting to do some abstract math calculations on the kinetic energy and sectional density of those, simply for armchair comparison to bullets.

It's not a death ray.
It's a crossbow.
It won't kill a deer any more quickly than a similar bow using a similar broadhead or point.
My 51# draw weight recurve gets passthroughs on whitetails. So will this thing. And, you'll still have to wait for it to bleed out. And, you'll have to get close and aim.

I came across data for another crossbow that shot 485 grain bolts at 412 feet per second velocity.
Providing 365 foot -pounds of kinetic energy.
Powerful.

ATA regs dont really allow much room for those type of variances when rating equipment. quite a few X-bows break into the 400+fps realm. of coarse, they clear 20 acres worth of animals out of the woods with the whip crack noise they make.
