This may be a stupid question, but.... How do you tell if your SKS is preban or not? Mine has all the original parts and a bayonet. It is a Norinco with a low serial number.
Also whats the difference between a milled SKS triger group and a nonmilled one?

If your SKS is in stock condition (Meaning it has the non-detachable magazine) the 94 assault weapons ban does not apply to it.
Milled parts are generally considered to be better quality than stamped parts.

Norinco SKS rifles require a little more scrutiy regarding what is "stock", and is it "legal". There is another "ban" (89?) addressing whether or not you can keep the bayonet on it.
Go here (http://pub128.ezboard.com/bsurvivorssksboards) and you should find the info you seek.
