I'm looking at my rather full PM box and wishing I didn't have to delete some of the messages -- some with phone #s etc or just messages I'd like to keep for reference. What I'd really like to do is to be able to click a button somewhere and get the software to e-mail me my messages so that I can store them on my own computer instead of hogging space on your server. I can and have cut & pasted some elsewhere, but it's a pain.

Is that an option on vbulletin somewhere?

Also, how many messages may I store before the software starts kicking them back at people? And will the software tell me when my box is full or do I have to wait for someone else to notice?

Right now we've got it set to 100 PM's per user. I'm not aware of a way to e-mail PMs to yourself though. You can receive e-mail notification that you've got a new PM, but I'm not sure whether that has the content of the PM in it.

I agree pax, that would be an extremely useful feature, but it doesn't exist on vB. I also copy/paste content I want to keep into a Word doc, but, like you said, it is a pain.

This is a quick hack. It doesn't look very pretty. It sends all PMs, incoming and outgoing. As the front page says, subjects start with [THR PM] which you can use to your advantage if you want to direct them into a different mailbox.

Does that send just what is in your inbox currently, or does that set it so that everything in the future goes to your e-mail, too?

Mike, I think it just sends new stuff that comes to your inbox. At least that's the way it worked with mine. I left some messages in my inbox before this was implemented, and it didn't mess with them, but it did send the content on new messages.

Yesterday I modified the "pm notification" email so it actually sends the text of new messages. Hopefully this will encourage people to clear out their PM mailboxes here and avoid hogging space on the server. :)

The above url to send all PMs currently in the user's mailbox still works.
Both mechanisms now use "[THR PM]" to start the subject for easy filtering.
