I was sad because my girlfriend left yesterday for semester aborad to sweden for nearly six month. :( So i decided to buy something to cheer up my self a little. You won´t guess it,a beautiful NIB Heckler & Koch USP 9x19. ;) Tomorrow i´ll drive to the range. I can´t expect to shoot it.

Nice. Always good to hear from international members. What kinds of hoops (laws) did you have to jump through in Germany to buy it?

If you exactly know procedure it´s not a big deal, but by far not easy as in USA.
here`s a short guide:
First of all you have to be member a shooting association, own a certificate of good conduct, a general knowledge certificate and a gun license, then:
1. You have to make a choice for a specified gun type and caliber.
2. You have to make an application to your sports federation and pay $ 20
3. If your application gets approved you can go ahead to your local administration and pay $ 125.
4. Now you receive the permission to buy the specified weapon (the permission is only valid for one year and one gun).
5. Now you can buy a gun of your choice.
6. After purchasing the gun you have 14 days time to register the gun at your local administration and pay again $ 35
7. Congrats, now you own a legal and registered firearm.

First, super nice gun! That was an excellent choice on your part! I have a USP compact .40 and it is by far my favorite polymer gun out of all my guns.
I'm sorry to hear that your girlfriend will be gone for that long...be there for her and don't make it hard on her as I'm sure she will miss you too.
In the mean time, enjoy your new pistol!!!
**edit** That procedure to get a handgun seems like a real pain. But at least you can still get one eventually. Makes me glad to live in the U.S....for now anyways. We'll see how I feel after Obama takes office.
