Night sight disappeared?

After an extended 300 round session and cleaning, the front night sight on my 4006TSW disappeared! I couldn't figure out why it was so much dimmer than the rear sights until I looked a little more closely, and realized that there is a tiny space where the lamp must have been.

Did it break from shooting/cleaning (Mpro7 and a nylon brush on the slide, so I doubt it) Or do they just go to their great reward sometimes?

Can I just send the slide back to Trijicon (did they make the night sights for the Novak S&W equipped pistols) and have them relamped? What do they charge nowadays.

At least the gun ran hiccup free for all those rounds, including nasty Wolf. They were so much lighter than the Aguila that there were nice and easy, like a light target load.

Thanks!

Trijicon makes the lamps, but you may need to get in touch with Novak rather than Trijicon.

If those are the sights that came on the 4006TSW, I would give S&W a call.
They have an excellent customer service department and their warranty might extend to the sight falling apart.

I've had night sights "wink out" before.

Hopefully you didn't breathe it when it broke. The danger of Tritium is when it's inhaled.

The tiny bit of tritium in that vial is not enough to be of significance. Atop of that, it would be instantly diluted in the air to the point that it would be like a drop in the ocean. And even if he did inhale all of it (which he didn't), it would not be a big deal, as tritium has a half life of about 12.32 yrs, a short biological t1/2, and is a low energy beta emitter. You would have to internalize large amounts of tritium to incur any significant damage via radiation.
