with all the talk of these things winking out im just curious if its due to recoil and it would be a reliable sight for my 10/22?

ATN's are POS and are known to be very poorly made. Look for something else maybe the bushnell holosight by eotech for $100 more?

Mine works great with a brand new very fresh battery in it. If the battery has any age to it, the ATN turns itself off from the recoil -- of a heavy long-barrel .22 target pistol using "standard velocity" ammo. I've gone back to using the iron sights.

I had a ATN sight on one of my .22 pistols and had a problem with it and sent it back. The replacement was not much better. I put a Tasco clone of the Aimmoint Comp complete with lens covers for a little over $100, if you do a search for the best price, It works great. Check one out. :)

I bought a used ATN Ultra Sight Digital (http://www.atncorp.com/DayOptics/ReflexSights/ATNUltraSightDigital) and have had it mounted on my Ruger MKII Bullseye gun for three years.

NOT ONE ISSUE with it after near ten thousand rounds.

I have an UltraDot L/T (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showpage?saleitemid=293965&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=free&utm_campaign=657) that I haven't used yet.

Most of the Bullseye shooters have proven durability with the UltraDot Red Dots (http://www.ultradotwest.com/ultradot_2008_005.htm) on rimfire pistols and 1911's in 45acp. If they'll hold up to target loads for a 45acp mounted to the slide or to the frame, they'll hold up to your rimfire rifle.

Well that is the first really positive plug for an ATN I have heard of in a long time. Even the SWFA guys come right out and admit that they are not the most reliable optics but still still will sell you one. You probably will have better luck with one on a .22 as opposed to a .308 but why bother when there are better options out there for the same or less money?

I think the digital model is a better design. But I do need to keep the battery housing cover very tight. Cures: the ATN turns itself off from the recoil

I probably won't buy another one when this one fails, but that would be for other reasons. The one reason I do like this one is the 2moa dot. The only other red dot that gets that small is the Nikon. Otherwise the Ultra Dot tube style will probably be the one I get. For a rifle I'd probably go for a Eotech.
