I think I'd pay him an extra $50 to ship it to me. If it's within the state, you don't need to go through a dealer.

If it sounds too good to be true.....it probably is.

Logos, does that sound too good to be true? I'll check it out per the sticky first.

So, he can mail it to me directly. From his door to mine. Radical.

Just have him send a picture.

Have him send several pictures and if it really looks "perfect" then have him meet you half-way and buy him lunch.

Tell him you'll come take a look at it for $500.

His idea of "perfect" and YOUR idea of "perfect" may not be the same.

You don't need to go through a dealer for a sale, but you do to ship it - USPS is out of the question and I think UPS requires shipping to an FFL, also. I do not know of a legal way to ship it.

If it is in good shape and has the orignal grips - which are highly figured Goncala Alves finger groove combats - then it is a very good deal and well worth the price. If the original grips are missing, then it's an OK deal and worth the price if you like the gun. I have one of them and love it. Absolutely love it. If you don't want it, give me a shot at it - my girlfriend wants one, too!

I've done it UPS. Their only requirement is that it go overnight, and the transaction is legal. I just print an internet label and hand it to a driver. I tell him "hey, it's a gun, man". He says "OK", and that's that. Same as I do when shipping to an FFL.

I had one of those but to me it was a .44 Special shooter only. Magnum loads were impressive to onlookers probably, but a painful waste of unburned powder to me.

Now I have a 5" 629 and a 3" Model 24-3. The 24 is a fine shooting thing and I very much like not needing to clean the longer cylinder when shootin specials in a magnum chamber.
Blued gun is prettier too, IMO.

PS - also make sure it's a 3". I drove 40 miles once to look at one a few years ago to discover it was a 4". The seller did not know how to measure the barrel and had measured it from the front of the frame, not the end of the barrel. I'd try to get a picture of it first before driving unless he convinces you he is a knowledgeable about revolvers and knows what he's talking about.

For all interested, I'll pass cause I don't need it and don't want to have to buy .44 mag ammo but here it is.. Check out www.zidaho.com. Click on guns and page until you find it. It's probably on page 3 or 4 by now. Thanks.

The grips are worth $150 by themselves. IMHO it's a very good deal. You could buy it and turn it over the next day for a decent profit.

The market is really depressed for sellers right now. Prices are way down. If you buy that gun and he ships overnight, plus you pay your FFL a transfer fee, you'll have well over $600 in the gun. In this crummy market, don't count on a profit.

I asked him, he said it is not a lew horton.
