ACCOKEEK, Md. — Prince George's County fire officials have put out a blaze at a firearms plant.

Officials say they received calls about the fire at the Beretta USA Inc. plant in Accokeek early Monday. They say flames started in a building attached to the main plant. The fire extended to the roof of the main building, causing part of the roof to collapse.

No one was injured.

Hazmat crews also responded because officials say there are chemical products at the plant that are used to make firearms.

Officials are investigating what caused the fire. Damage is estimated at $250,000.

I hope the damage to their production was not too bad.:(

Sorry, I did not see other post.

No, a quarter million is a dead loss to any business no matter what the size. What isn't included in that quarter mill is lost production times. I would hate to see what their fixed costs are.

Man, that sucks.

And no, $250,000 isn't chump change for -any-company. As other said, it's gonna cost them more than that in manufacturing delays and just time spent getting things back to normal.

I seriously doubt that Beretta doesn't have some sort of insurance to cover this very type of thing, so while this isn't good for them its not likely to harm them significantly.

I'm just glad nobody was hurt.

Worldwide Beretta is a $500,000,000 company and makes 1500 guns a day. Not a huge company by capitalist standards but likely not effected by a small fire much either. They likely have insurance.

Very few insurance companies will underwrite loss of income. The real loss is not the damage to the building

I'm not hateful towards Beretta, in fact I have one in .40, but I'm not weeping. They'll be fine because they are A. huge, B. insured, and C. loaded with government's business. I just wish they would make an AR 70 in the USA :(
