Where can I find affordable coach guns with functioning hammers? Or is there a reason to not have hammers?

I have a TTN Model 1878 with functional hammers, GREAT gun.
Hammerless is slightly quicker, you dont have to manually cock them before firing.

I have seen various versions of the Chinese-built TTN coachguns for sale between the mid 400s to 500 dollars. There are the Russian-built Baikal Bounty Hunter IIs and the Remington Spartan with functioning hammers (a Baikal marketed by Remington) which should run, I think, between 4-500 dollars. There are cheaper Chinese-made guns of lesser quality built by Norinco which are around 250, plus or minus. A note of interest, latest word is that Remington is dropping the Spartan line (they are not in the 2009 catalog but are still on the website) but the line is being picked up again by the original importers, European American Armory. I suspect, if anything, the offerings will increase under EAA. BTW, the TTNs are heavy at close to 8 pounds, are cylinder bore, and have no manual safeties or crossbolt safeties. The Baikal/Spartans are around 7 pounds or a little less, have a manual tang safety but no crossbolt safety, and come with 4 choke tubes. The Norincos I have seen have a tang safety and a crossbolt safety and are cylinder bore. I did not like the quality I have observed in the Norincos. I have hammerless Baikals with quite good quality and the TTNs I have seen seemed very well made.

Question: Would a model with hammers make more sense for HD, as you could keep two in the chambers more safely?

But who, if anyone, makes such a beast? No one I'm aware of is making coach guns specifically for defense. They are made mostly for CAS which doesn't allow ejectors. Soooo, who makes one with ejectors? I think maybe no one. One would have to cut down a higher-priced hunting gun. Ouch.

My Chinese JW-2000 12ga Coachgun has extractors and is a well made shotgun for an import.I've had it for several years,think I gave $230 for it new.

Txhillbilly - Yeah, I was perhaps a bit unfair in stating my negative opinion on the Other-than-TTN, lower-priced Chinese guns. I bought one that was not good and it rather soured my view. I have read many good reports from others and my sample of one is not much to draw conclusions.
