Will the shellholders from my old Lyman Spar T fit my new Redding Boss? I would check it myself but it is en route from the factory... Thanks!

Generally, shellholders are interchangeable between brands. There are exceptions, such as Hollywood, Herters and some C-H presses. RCBS, Lyman, Redding and some of the others all use the same shell holders, except of course for progressive presses.

There are dimensional differences between shellholders, even of the same brand, but that won't make a difference if you're only using one for each caliber. If you have several of the same caliber, the heights will in all probability vary amongst them.

Hope this helps.

Very old shell holders would be suspect for use with new dies.

Many years ago, shell holder thickness varied between brands to quite some extent, as there was no real standard like there is now.

Each company made them to match the dies they made, and mixing brands was not such a great idea.

It could cause headspace problems if you just adjusted the sizing die down tight on a thin shell holder of a different brand.

I found out recently that Lyman shell holders will NOT work in the RCBS hand primer. RCBS, Lee, & Redding will. Others may.

But as far as single stage presses, all the newer shell holders, 30 years back or so, will interchange.
