S&W 642 - question about dryfire

I'll be picking up my S&W 642 .38 snub on Saturday. I've read in several posts about members dry firing theirs "thousands" of times for practice and to "smooth out" the trigger.

Will dry firing this gun that much abuse it? Is it necessary to use snap caps?

Thanks,

Randy

Dry firing is the best way to "bed in" an Airweight snubby. If you want reassurance go ahead and buy snap caps, but it is unnecessary.

I dry fire the heck out of my 642 for trigger practice. I look at $15 snap caps as cheap insurance on a gun that may someday be called upon to save my life. And yes, I know S&W says I don't need them, but better safe than sorry...
