I have a Taurus M44 44 mag. And would like to install a Red Dot type scope or optic on it. What would you suggest? And what kind of mounts would I need. My gun has a 6in. ported, vented rib barrel.
I would also like to install this type of optic or sight on my Rossi 971 357 mag. It also has a 6in ported, vented rib barrel.
The guns will be used for hunting and backyard range fun.:D

Autiger ......... I am not that familiar with those 2 pieces .... but if a revo frame has enough ''meat'' then it is usally possible to fit a mount. probably get set up for a Weaver rail and then whack on the red dot of your choice ... on a std 7/8 rail and prolly with 1" tube.
I have a 9 1/2" Ruger Super redhawk with a Millet red dot ..... great combination ... but this gun is of course set up from the get go for a scope of some sort.
I do tho like the benefits of a red dot on a revo ..... great for long range useage. Certainly helps too with with my old and tired eyes!!

I did a search and found some interesting scopes and mounts on http://gunaccessories.com . Im not sure what I want to go with yet.
Millett Mounts look good but require drilling and tapping. And AimTech has a odd but simple looking mount (no drilling required):D Maybe I can come up with something. Thanks for the info. Nice Ruger you have there.:D

If your barrel is ported, it'll prove worth your while to take along a compact camera lens cleaning kit when you head to the range.

i put an ultra 4 red dot on my smith 686, i used a weaver rail. it is awesome when it comes to plinking put the dot on target and bam. adjustable size dots and brightness as well. i have noticed that the scope moves back some when shooting magnum loads but it never affected point of impact. go figure. id check out weaver or even weigand for a mount.

I have weavers mounts on two guns and they are OK, but not that solid. Check out the Weigand Integra mount: it's base and rings are one machined piece that bolts to the gun. Rock solid, I use it on my SW model 66 with an Ultra Dot 1".
