Alright I have been stuck in the house and my shop due to the weather but since it has got better I have developed the fever. I have about 400 pounds of wheel weights that need to be turned into ignots or just melted down. I have a LEE 10 pound electric pot but lets face it with all that many WW's it will not do. So I am faced with the decision of getting the ladel and bean pot that I used when I first started casting out. I always used a coal fire I know GLOBAL WARMING I am killing mother earth but the lead had to be melted. So I do not feel like making a fire so I have the portable camp stove. So my question is if I keep the flame going good and strong will the cast iron pot stay hot enough to keep the lead at a liquid state?

I use a coleman camp stove and a cast iron skillet to melt down small batches. If you have a turkey fryer hit up harbor freight and get a cast iron dutch oven http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=44705 and ust it for larger batches.
To answer your ?, yes.

For a pot, I use a piece of 8" steel pipe, with a 1/4" thick wall, cut 10" deep. I welded a piece of 1/2" thick steel for a bottom and put handles on both sides. This will handle about 100 pounds of lead, give or take a pound or two. For a heat source, I use a single burner cast iron propane burner. It works well and make pretty short work of making ingots.
Hope this helps.
