I've been looking for a good, inexpensive rack for gun security. I'm tired off individual locks, and I don't want to spring for a safe. Something like this looks good. Any other reccomendations? http://www.firearmsecurityracks.com/

If you only own a surplus makarov and sks that might be okay, but if you have a couple of firearms worth $1000 or more a gunsafe would seem (to me) to be a better investment. A good safe will hold more firearms (as well as other important items) more securely than those racks in about the same amount of space.

In the past I've seen Midway USA have a very similar (if not the same) item on clearance for $20. I've seen it offered twice now and I didn't have any expendable funds either time.

Thanks for posting this subject, I was just starting to look into temp storage solutions for a second / mountain home. This looks great (and very affordable).

As an added bonus, it locks everything into a convenient package when it's ripped off the wall. Makes that many guns much easier to carry.
Seriously, it's better than nothing, just make sure it's well hidden.

Let me make it more clear - 'in a second home, WHILE I'M VISITING IT, AND IF I TAKE SOME FIREARMS WITH ME TO THAT HOUSE, ON THAT TRIP' :p
(I'm sure as hell NOT considering it for long-term or totally unattended use)
