Can't say for sure Jack Rabbit, but I'd guess it'd be the .451"diameter ball.

You can use .451, .454 or .457 in a 44 cal revolver. The ones in the kit are most likely .451 as they are the easiest to load.

If at all possible, avoid the starter kit, it's way over priced. If it's a Pietta 1858 it should be .451.
Are you getting the Cabela's 1858 that's on sale?

I got the one on sale but I think everything but the gun is crap. So I should have spent extra and got a decent flask and measure.

If you shop evil-bay you can find some bargain prices on BP accessories. They have a BP section.

If the kit is from Cabelas they are .451 balls.

I believe that's the one alright. Seems like the starter kits come with the smallest acceptable size ball for each caliber. As I saw one advertized for the .31 caliber that stated the ball was 32 caliber (.315" diameter), even though shooters recommend the hard to find .321", or a .323".. :)

I shot it Yesterday using 454's they work good, nice little ring of lead trimed of. The 451', with kit only left little bits of lead here and there. Only a few ball so I'll just chuck them
