I was wondering what all you .300 wsm shooters favorite load is? So far mine is 150 gr SST infront of 69.0 gr's of Win 760, and a COL of 2.850" and have had really good luck with 110gr V-max infront of 62.2 gr's of R-15 and a COL of 2.800"

Saskboy,

I have a decent 300 WSM elk load for my Browning A-Bolt (23" 1 in 10 twist):

180 gr. Hornady Interbond
65 gr. IMR 4350
CCI Magnum primer
COAL 2.860"
Once-fired, necksized Federal brass

This load will shoot under an inch most times in my gun. 66 gr. of W760 was just about as good.

I was also trying 180 gr. Accubonds which also shot pretty well with the same powders and charges, just not quite as well. These loads were intended for hunting only- I wouldn't hesitate to use any of the 4 combinations.

Is your 300 WSM an all-purpose gun? I was thinking of trying some 125 gr. loads for coyotes until I get a scope for my .22-250.

I forgot to mention my rifle is a tikka with a 1 in 11" twist. I wasnt planning on using it as an all purpose gun but seems like I have been lately, going to use the 110's on small critters. I used some 150 gr nosler partitions with huge sucess on deer. Even 150 gr fmj's have been accurate (destroyed the coyote though!)

300 WSM 150 gr Hornady SST Interlock 57 gr Varget OAL 2.82
This load shot a four shot group the size of a dime at 100 yds, I clicked one left and shot one hole one inch left out of my BAR Stalker with the BOSS. Other loads are good, but this one is the best from my gun.

300 WSM 150 gr Hornady Interbond 57 gr Varget 2.7 OAL

300 WSM 165 gr Hornady Interbond 56.5 gr Varget 2.8 OAL

300 WSM 110 Hornady SP 62 gr Varget 2.65 OAL

300 WSM 130 gr Hornady SP 60 gr Varget 2.70 OAL

300 WSM 150 Nosler BT SP 56 gr Varget OAL 2.78

Saskboy,

What kind of 110 gr. bullet and powder are you using? I want to try the 110 gr. V-Max in my .30/06 or 300 WSM on coyotes.

I've only used 2 powders so far with the 300wsm. I use H4350 with 165 grn gamekings & 180 grn partitions. I loaded up some lighter loads with H4985 & 150grn FMJ bullets for initial scope sight in & familiarization.

I checked my Hornady manual last night and saw those 110 gr V-Max loads for .30/06 and 300 WSM. I bet they'll be pretty tough on coyotes.

I shot my last coyote at about 225 yards with a 125 gr. Speer TNT over varget from a .30/06. She dropped immidiately. About the same time she hit the ground I saw dust kick up about 100 yards behind her.

I'm not that young- those are my boys in the picture.

I've been shooting a lot of SMK 168gr bullets using Reloder 22 powder and CCI 200 primers with good results. However, I've decided to move up to SMK 190gr bullets with the same powder and CCI 250 primers.

The pelt survival is prob going to be low, but I think the exploding factor on small animals will be entertaining.

I shoot almost the exact same load that "K-Dirt" is shooting and it will punch a huge hole in the side of anything. 100 lb hogs get an exit about the size of a grapefruit.

I don't really have expectations as far as pelt survival go with the .30/06 and 300 WSM. They aren't exactly premier varmint rounds, but I'll say that the 3 coyotes I've hit with my .30/06 have traveled a combined 0 feet after the shot :D

That last shot with the 125 gr. TNT was a frontal neck shot. I imagine a shoulder shot would have been similar to onehitwonder's results.
