I have some rifles I treasure,my M94 isn't my most rare or expensive or collectable but it always holds a special place in my heart and hands.

Dad bought it for me when I was 13 I think around 1979 or maybe 78.Have shot it over the years with lots of fun, plinking mostly, empty BBQ tanks, soda cans or whatever.Rarely shot paper target with it.Bought whatever ammo was available on sale.

But today shooting it for the first time in a while I rested it at 100yds and tried different ammo in it to see what is what. Here are the results. It was a good day shooting today with it,happy that it is shooting in the black with Fereral anyway but it was a good day because it is a special rifle in my heart.:D

Federal shot most center,Winchester ammo shot a little lower while Remington ammo seems to shoot a little to the right. All groups were shot warm barrel, shot 10 rounds to move windage that was off using Federal ammo before I shot volleys.10 minute rests between each ammo brand. The bulls is a 6 inch diameter.

Great shooting and congrats on such a fine rifle. Your results are pretty typical of what my pre64 win M94 does.

That is good shooting with open, semi-buckhorn sights!

----------------------------------------------------------

Just making an observation:

An AK gets 5" groups with open sights and it is denounced as horribly inaccurate.

A Win. 94 does it and is praised.

I have a Model 94, 30-30 also and I am considering mounting a scope on it. With Hornady Leverevolution ammo it might be a little more accurate at longer distances. I would like to use it for hog hunting until I can get a good 308 or 30-06 bolt action. Anyone ever shoot hogs with a 30-30. The blinds I will be using are about 100 to 120 yards from the feeders.

Ya know I had thought about sticking with 150gr but as I look at those targets I'm wondering if 170gr might shoot a little tighter?Any thoughts on that before I go buy 170gr ammo to try?

As it stands right now this little test I did tells me that the Federal is what I should stick with since it seems to shoot most center but maybe a experiment with a box of 170gr might be a idea.I have no idea whether 170gr would improve or not.

I like the bead sight on the front.at 100yds the bulls and the bead look like the same diameter just about so it is a matter of focusing the circle to circle sort to speak.

The only problem I have ever had with this rifle is the rear sight screws came loose once and I lost the rear sight. So now I check the screws once in a while.

Nice rifle and shooting.

I wonder if Hornady LEVERevolutions would work for you. I have been wanting to try them in my Win 94 but haven’t been able to buy them at a less than astronomical price locally (planning to order some next time I get a bunch of stuff on-line)
