Hello, this is my first post after reading High Road and its previous incarnation, gleaning vast amounts of good information. I guess it is time to be real. The reality is, I have just been given at Remington Model 12-A .22 pump rifle. This is a breakdown creature and I did, to effect some heavy duty cleaning. In process I removed what I call the 'action block'. It is the piece with the extractor, firing pin, etc. that slips into the barrel-pump assembly before attaching the stock and trigger assembly. I can't figure out how to get it back in correctly. Any help would be most appreciated as there is no literature available for such an old item. Remington is no help by phone or e-mail. Thank you for any help you might provide. It is a beautiful little thing and would wear well in my backpack.

Harley Nolden has always been immense help with assembly/disassembly questions. He probably has exploded diagrams for your rifle. I would PM him or re-post in his forum.

Hello, blechajo -
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I have had a model 12 (which my dad bought when he was a boy) for about 45 years. I simply drop the "action block" into the receiver so that it is in approximately the correct position, then GENTLY slide the stock (with the hammer in the cocked position) into the reciever until it's seated. Next, simply depress the action release in front of the trigger guard and SLOWLY and GENTLY work the action by pulling the slide all the way to the rear and returning it fully to the forward position. The bolt should then be properly seated and you can screw in the take-down bolt.
Hope this helps,
