Hello Folks,
I am looking at buying a beautiful 3" barreled .357 Magnum Dan Wesson Model 14 which has the fixed rear sight. It was made in the very early 1980's at the Monson plant. He is asking a little over $400 for the gun, box and tools.
What opinions of this gun do ya'll have? How does it compare to the Ruger GP-100? How tough is this gun?
Thanks

Check out the DW forum (http://www.danwessonforum.com/). I have a M15 pistol pak in 357 and a M40 in 357 super mag. Both are excellent revolvers. My Super Mag is very high quality, I would rate it with a M27 Smith or Python.

Take a look at the barrel. If it has a section that goes down below the cylinder (the so-called "porkchop" barrel) it's the early model. Getting parts won't be a problem, but if you want a different barrel, they're hard to find.
Here's a pic of my early DW.

Note the "porkchop" barrel. I also have a 4" barrel for this little gun.
I paid $160 for the gun in a pawnshop. It's marked High Standard and the guy didn't know what it was. DW had one 6" barrel left and I bought it.
