My wife purchased a new Benelli M1014 a few weeks ago for me (b-day present). Since it was not my b-day yet, I put a light coat of CLP on it and boxed it back up and stored it in the safe until this weekend. When I opened it this weekend and cleaned it off, I noticed 2 to 3 small spots on the frame that look like faded oil spots, but they won't clean off.

I have tried CLP, and some other cleaners, but nothing removes them. They are not major...but for a gun in this price range, I am looking for close to perfect. Any ideas on what it might be, or what might remove them?

This is troubling. Can you post pics perhaps? I'd love to help, but I don't think recreating the problem on my M1014 is wise. Have you tried coating the spots with the Benelli lube that comes with the gun? Maybe that would help restore the finish.

I was able to remove them with Simple Green cleaner...never used it before on a gun, but it worked well.

Glad to hear that you were able to remove the blemishes.

It sounds like a one time ordeal, but I would advise against using Simple Green habitually on anodized finishes as it could strip it away after prolonged use.

BTW, how do you like your m1014?

Thanks for the heads up on Simple Green. I didn't plan on using it again on the M1014, but it's good to know that it could harm the finish. I will let you know how I really like it, after I get a chance to shoot it.

Sorry Skunk...no sister. She knew I was interested in it and decided to pick one up...no complaints here. She even shoots with me and has her CCW.
