Can we do this over without relying on brady scores?
For instance,VT isn't all that great, you can not carry a rifle!
they are worried about poaching, sometimes a rifle/carbine beats out a
revolver in self defense situations though.
VT laws seemed to be aimed at hunting, the 2nd is about national security.
What about AK? are you guys allowed to carry anything?
for instance are switchblades/machine guns ok?
are they legal in any state? (to carry)

While there are places that have better weather and are nicer to look at:Texas,if you add it all up seems like a one of the best places in these United States.
No State Income Tax
Property Tax is low
Good gun laws
We have Air Conditioning so the months from May to September can be tolerated and the rest of the year is nice.
People are nice
Great value on Houses and Land vis-a-vis the rest of the country.
If you are so inclined you can go to a gun show every weekend and not have to drive longer than two hours
Good ranges and lots of them
Lots of lakes if you like to fish good hunting for birds squrriel and deer
Good economy
All in all a very nice place to live

Texas does have one of the most restrictive concealed carry laws of the shall issue states. expensive training required and the most expensive fee IIRC (according to More Guns, Less Crime John Lott)

Easy. You dont need a permit, but you can still get one if you want it.

VT laws seemed to be aimed at hunting,

Most states with good gun laws have laws against carrying loaded longarms in your vehicle. These are anti-"road hunting" laws, not anti-self defense laws.

Most folks I know keep a sidearm on their person, and a shotgun or carbine in the trunk along with ammo.

In Texas you can carry a loaded shotgun/rifle in your car
