Hi all!

I just got a 1970ish High Standard Supermatic Tournament as partial trade for a vehicle I'm selling a co-worker and friend. I am the third owner of this gun, and overall, the gun seems to be in great condition. The bore is as crisp as could be, the action seems tight and the finish is in good shape. The only thing wrong is that the rear sights are missing the parts necessary for elevation adjustment. I've found the parts online for a reasonable amount, and I'm wondering whether this would be work I could do successfully by myself, or do I need to find someone with finer tools, a magnifying glass, and some more skills and experience to do it?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Josh

Working on those sights requires an ability to do fine work, and I have no idea whether you can do that or not. Some folks can't replace a faucet washer, others rebuild computer hard drives or fix watches.

FWIW, my advice is to study the sight and what has to be done, and then proceed or turn the job over to someone else. Gun expertise in not really needed, only some mechanical aptitude and the ability to use small tweezers and not lose parts.

As Jim said, it can be a rather delicate operation.

But if you decide to try, the attached instructions may help.
