so I stop by TheShop today, and notice a new AR-looking thingie in the projects rack.. get a little closer, and I see something new on the reciever ... "Colt M4" yadda yadda.

Look a little closer... yup... Safe-Fire-Auto switch.

kinda stunned at this point -- turns out they just got it for R&D.
How much was it? I ask, out of idle curisosity...

"Oh, about 900"

And it would cost me as a regular Jane.. what... several K to come close to replicating the thing on a reciever prolly older than I am?
:fire:

horsemuffins. :(

on the bright side, I finally got to see first person how a Real Live Autosear worked. :)

Add another digit on the end and you'd start to be in ballpark.

I hear you. I have always really wanted a few suppresors. But why do I need to jump through a bunch of legal hoops, AND shell out an extra $200 for what is basically a chunk of tubing with some crap inside, just to protect my hearing and not annoy the neighbors.

Stupid NFA.

We need a PR campaign for silencers...

Maybe a persson in a cute silencer costume that can go to schools and explain the dangers of hearing loss.

If it was legal here in CA, I'd be happy to pay that $200 tax stamp and the $900 for the rifle. But we can't own SQUAT in this gopher state.

Get out while you can, Gary. I'll lay down suppressive fire to cover you.

I said the same thing when I saw a brand-spankin' new (date coded 2001) HK MP5A3 sitting behind the counter of my local H&K LE dealer a few months ago..

I won't mention what I said when I saw the price. :banghead:

Lol. When is that wall going up around CA, anyway?

Alternative? Some people just aren't constrained by laws such as the NFA. Are these people criminals? Not in my book, if the law is unconstitutional. When a "tax" (and excessive regulation) causes a legal product to cost over 10 times as much as it costs the gov't (LEOAs), it's not a tax, but a de facto prohibition, and therefore an infringement of my clearly delineated 2nd Amendment right. Machine shops have their purpose.

Soon, very very soon. They keep redrawing the districts so that more and more democraps will get elected into state office. Just wait...

McClintock is likely shooting himself in the foot as we speak so that he won't even get Rep. support the next go around, not to mention his new district now includes Ventura county which is staunchly liberal.

State is falling right into the crapper, won't be long until the businesses are driven out of Ca. all together and it will be a welfare state.
