I am considering a Hornady LNL AP and want to use a powder cop die. To do this I am thinking about getting pwder though expander dies to free up a station. I need would need an expander to fit .38 spl, 9mm luger, .45 acp and .223 rem. But how do I figure out which expander die goes with which caliber?

Also, i have seen some comments about the powder though expander not working well in Hornady presses. Is there a common problem with them?

Tnx!

My experience with .45 acp is that the expande4r provides a minimal amount of flaring, barely enough for a jacketed bullet, not even close to enough for a hardcast bullet.

I just use the expander die that comes in the die set.

Look up the manual on the hornady website the manual ahas a listing of the sizes by caliber at the back

223 doesn't need expanding. The sizes are marked on the others. You'll save a lot of effort by getting a quick change base for each expander. They're a pain to get adjusted properly. I use them with an RCBS lockout die. Actually with the RCBS you'd need two, one for the small cases and one for the 45. It all gets expensive, doesn't it? Worth it, though.
