Ummm, think you may have your terminology confused, clint???

It is the VCCA of '94. NFA stands for the National Firearms Act of 1934 which was recodified into Title II of the SSA of 1968.

Got that PDQ? :D

The violent crime control act of 1994 is set to sunset 13 September, 2004. There are bills in the house and senate to extend and expand the ban to include damn near every useful semi-auto gun out there. At the moment it looks as if the ban will sunset - there don't seem to be the votes to get it through. President Bush said he will sign a new ban, but he is not pushing anyone to do so, so he may have said that for political reasons. The original ban barely made it through, and that was with Democrats in control of the white house and both houses of congress. Clinton had to fight for the original ban; Bush does not seem willing to push the issue. I am cautiously optimistic - if the Muhammed beltway murder spree wasn't enough to shove more gun control down our throats then I don't know what it will take to get the gun control ball rolling again. Once an issue is off the agenda it's hard to get it back on. With distractions like the economy, the war, etc. there will be many other things competing for lawmakers attention.

Just in case our representatives are contemplating accepting any part of the ban, write your senators and representatives, and the RNC and DNC, and tell them that you are not going to stand for people tearing up the bill of rights.

Then buy more ammo ... just in case a new ban passes.

It boggles my mind that people still think AWB will sunset w/o AWB 2 already to go in its place.

And please, don't flame the messenger.

Does that mean there will be a national crisis of violent crime on 14 September, 2004 without Congressional action?

Hey they really got that violent crime under control in DC;)
