Shrike and disintegrating links

Flipping through the Sept 20 issue of Shotgun news, I see this article about the Shrike http://www.aresdefense.com/images/Shrike%20Ad.jpg attachment for the AR rifle. It looks like it's legal in semi-auto for "everyone".
However, it only comes with 10 links. Are links subject to the AWB just like magazines? If so, how does one tell pre-ban from post-ban? Where can you get links that go in this thing?

Links are considered the "ammunition feeding device", and as such, are subject to the 10 round limit. How you would tell a pre-ban link from a post ban one is beyond me though!

At the rate they're going, nobody's going to have to worry about pre-ban links to use with their Shrike.

Interesting question. Here's how...per ATF
First, all post-ban large capacity feeding devices must have a serial number.
(c) Large capacity ammunition feeding devices manufactured after September 13, 1994.
(1) Each person who manufactures or imports any large capacity ammunition feeding device manufactured or imported after September 13, 1994, shall legibly identify each such device with a serial number. Such person may use the same serial number for all large capacity ammunition feeding devices produced or imported.
And for metallic links, they are marked by...
(i) Metallic links. Persons who manufacture or import metallic links for use in the assembly of belted ammunition are only required to place the identification marks prescribed in paragraph (c)(1) of this section on the containers used for the packaging of the links.
And anything that does not have a serial number is automatically ok...
(w)(4) If a person charged with violating paragraph (1) asserts that paragraph (1) does not apply to such person because of paragraph (2) or (3), the Government shall have the burden of proof to show that such paragraph (1) applies to such person. The lack of a serial number as described in section 923(i) of title 18, United States Code, shall be a presumption that the large capacity ammunition feeding device is not subject to the prohibition of possession in paragraph (1).
So if you have the links, but not the boxes, ATF says that are legal. :)

Does that mean if I make a homemade copy of the full-cap P99 mag, but don't put a serial no. on it, it's fine? Or do you have to fill out some forms to make magazines?
Just asking, would never do without expert legal advice, preferably from the ATF, saying it's okay, and a metal and plastic machine shop.

MagKnightX:
No, you'd be in violation of the "Each person who manufactures or imports any large capacity ammunition feeding device manufactured or imported after September 13, 1994, shall legibly identify each such device with a serial number." provision of the law.
