This is advertised in shotgun news for $69.
Joeken.com (http://www.joeken.net/store/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=62&cat=AR15+Lower+Parts) website price is $129.
Anybody have info (pros/cons) on this thing?

I've seen a couple guns built up on them. The owners said they worked ok. They limit, somewhat, the modularity of the AR since you can't diddle around with different kinds of stocks or grips. I've been considering buying one and building up a shorty on it.

I was planning on using one of those for an AR project not too long ago.. I shelved it 'cause the MkIIs weren't ready yet, and I didn't like the contours of the original MkIs.. nice to see the MkIIs are out now. :)

Since then.. I'm thinking when I do get around to building an AR, I'll just use a standard receiver instead. Partly 'cause of the aforementioned modularity issues, partly 'cause some folks here mentioned that polymers degrade over time?

Not an issue in *my* lifetime certainly... but it'd be nice to know that should The Great Revolt come in 2106 that the weapon will still be usable. :D I dunno, prolly that's a silly reason, but hey...

Still.... $69? Who's selling them for $69? :D

Oops! They tricked me with their clever marketing tactics.

You can get them in funky colors, too. A few people buy them and a Cavarms front handguard in yellow and slap a DeWalt sticker on it. I need to do that, but stencil the DeWalt logo so it doesn't look so cheap.

I had one. I liked it.

The one that I had was actually a factory reject because it had some blemishes. However it worked perfectly, was super cheap, and was pretty comfy. Built up an HBAR on it, sold it to a coworker who appreciated it more than I did.

What are stripped lowers, buttstocks, and pistol grips going for now? $200+? (not sure, I'm not really an AR person). That is a considerable savings.
