WOW! That's a looooooooooong time to lurk and not post - lol. Do you only speak when spoken to in real life? JK. :) Welcome.

The drunk maniac dad should be locked up for several years. He's not a murderer ONLY because of the last second evasive maneuver of his son.

"I know we take football serious in the South," Christian told The Birmingham News for a Tuesday story, "but that's crossing the line."

This man is a true genius!

Shooting at Son over Football.

My dad used to always try to get me to stand over the football but I was too smart for him. I KNEW what would happen.

Then he had the apple suggestion.

Sigh,

William Tell jr.

Welcome to posting here Matt !!!

I wouldn't have believed this until I heard the GF's parents (rural Alabama) talk about Auburn football. (Her father gave me a shotgun. Even if I was a "Roll Tide" man I'da kept my mouth shut.)

We had a good long talk about why the Alabama loves college ball and Maryland loves pro ball (Bawlmer Ravens! though the DC burbs are Redskins fans {BOO})

Honest to goodness, this state does take it's football too seriously.

Me, I can't stand 'Bama or Auburn, so I always get a kick when both teams meet to play the "Iron Bowl", their annual matchup. It's a real kick to find out what team a group of people I am with are rooting for, then cheer the opposing side. I've got myself into a little trouble doing that :D

Have yet to be shot at, though...

Hey, I'm from Alabama and my blood is crimson! I don't take football as seriously as I used to. I pull for Alabama as much as anyone, but I do not spend every moment in sadness when they lose or in joy when they win. There are far too many things in life that come before football. One day we will all leave this world and what's in it. When that time comes, it will not matter what team we chose to cheer for, or how many guns we had, or how much money we had, etc. What will matter is if we obeyed God and lived for Him!

I think that this guy would have probably "gone off" over something else sooner or later. He appeared to be a walking time bomb with some very serious issues. Noone gets upset enough over a ball game to shoot his own son unless something else is going on.

I know some guys at work who sulk for days when 'Bama loses. Same for Auburn.

Having lived in Alabama and been a Tide fan for life, I seriously doubt this is the first time something like this has happened. This is just the first time it has made the news.......Besides, if you lived here, you would undersand that from September to early December Saturday is the holy day.

Hey matt, since I am a huge busybody, where do you shoot in gainesville?

I dont even have any guns here in gainesville :( Cant wait to go back to S. FL to go shooting Thanksgiving time.

Gainesville doesnt seem to be the most gun friendly area , gun prices are high around here, but at least the dealer on University near SW5th Street area seems very friendly, plus one of the female employees aint bad at all :D (nothing like girls and guns). I know people go shooting at a cliff in ocala, but if you go shoot there and someone else shows up shooting i dont really feel comfortable :uhoh: (went there rapelling and heard people shooting off their shotguns way too close for comfort), but in Ocala there is a public free range i believe. Only other places closer to shoot is the indoor range in Micanopy, but prices seem high or there is a gun club north on 13th Street but it seemed expensive also last time I checked.
