I had the chance to "play" with the NEW SureFire L4 flashlight today at a local gun shop.

It is amazing to see first-hand the powerful light that comes from a single LED.

The only thing I did not understand was the L4's tailcap.

Unlike my Surefire E2, the L4 uses a push-button type tailcap if you want to use it with a constant "on" (as opposed to twisting the tailcap on my E2).

I really like the L4 and it is next on my "want" list.

However, I am not sure of the "advantage" of this new tailcap vs. the old Surefire tailcap.

Can anyone explain the differences and advantages?

 :what:

Thanks...

The L4 still works for momentary on, but you have to push it down deep and hard to have it constant on. As opposed to the old lights it was momentary only and you had to twist it to have it stay constant on.

The new bezel is marginally better for striking...umm....potatoes or ground beef with. Even though a knife is your first choice you can't have a knife everywhere and sometimes you gotta make do with what you already have in your paws.

I didn't believe the hype either but it shore us a purdy piece, ain't it!

The real advantage is that you don't need two hands to turn it on (like the E2E).

Hmm, methinks it's time for an E2E and KL4 led module! Can't have too many torches!

Have not played with the L4 yet, but I did with the L1. Very nice light, might be adding it to my collection soon.
