Like the title says.

I'm looking for a good IWB holster preferably tuckable.

I've narrowed it down to the Minotaur MTAC and the Supertuck made by Crossbreed. What is your opinion of the two?

Any other suggestions?

I'm down here in the Georgia heat so sweat could cause a problem....

Never used the Crossbreed, but if it shows my enthusiasm I own two MTACs and three spare half-shells so I can carry all my autos in them. My search for a great holster is over.

In GA, you might want to think about the C-TAC as well, only because the leather backing of either of the other choices *might* not do so well in that oppressive, sweaty heat. I don't know though, the MTAC is a brilliant holster and the Supertuck seems to be pretty close in design, and have a lot of fans as well.

In another holster thread someone complained that the MTAC has too much leather on the back of it that causes extra thickness. If I come across that thread I'll link it.

I've got the supertuck for my xd9 and have mixed feelings about it. It does conceal a full size pistol rather well, shirt tucked or untucked, so that's a plus for it. On the negative side, it seems overly bulky and large. The leather backing has proven very durable and sweat resistant - Deep South resident that I am - but it sure is thick. The thickness of the leather pushes the gun out that much more, ya know? Also, it wraps around my waist from say 2:00 position to almost 5:00, so it feels big. I have the standard clips for it and they don't hold the holster in place securely around my belt until one of the clips bumps into a belt loop. The gun is very stable, but it will move from a 3:00 position toward my back until it hits a belt loop. Also, mine is annoyingly CREAKY!! The kydex clips on the leather constantly creaks and groans almost to the point of mental torture. :cuss: Don't know if the Minotaur will do this, but I'm done with the kydex on leather thing.

The only other IWB holster I've used has been the comp-tac CTAC and I LOVED it! (sold it with the gun it was for) Don't really know why I didn't get one for the xd. That holster was thin, easier on than the supertuck, smaller overall and less bulky. Not sure of the minotaurs dimensions.

Hope this helps!

MTAC has thick rubber spacers between the kydex clips and the leather, they compress when you screw them down, but it doesn't creak.

I think I'm going to go ahead and buy a CTAC soon, I like all kydex a lot and I think I should give it a shot.

I use the MTAC and like it for what it is. It is rather wide, so my biggest thing is that I have to wear my pants a size bigger (in other words, I get to either wear all of my old comfortable pants & not conceal carry or I get to go buy all new pants). That's probably the case with any IWB (especially with a semi-fat XD), but I just got my CCW last year so it was one thing I learned.

As far as durability, comfort, and non-creakiness, the MTAC is quite nice. It seemed to be a slightly more popular IWB than the Supertuck at XDTalk.com when I researched it.

Someone mentioned the CTAC. I carried one for several years and it's a great holster. Only problem is that if you're not wearing an undershirt then you have hard kydex rubbing against skin which is not too comfortable - thus the development of holsters like the MTAC and Supertuck. For that reason I'm not planning on getting a CTAC for either of my two new guns. It is very thin and concealable though. If you always wear an undershirt then go for it.

My understanding is that both the Crossbreed and MTAC are excellent holsters. That said, many people have put a thin layer of moleskin on their CTAC and reversed the clips and swear it is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I've carried a Crossbreed for a few years now and love it.

The downside is that it takes a while to get broken in. I live in Texas and had to mow the lawn with it a few times to get the sweat to mold it to my side. Once that was done, it was great.

Comfy, reasonable tuckability (not great, but good), and outstanding concealment if a shirt is untucked. I can wear it all day and not worry about it ever getting uncomfortable.

I love mine, and it's well worth the $70 to get one custom made for you. Opt for the combat cut and you'll be happy.

love my supertuck. I have had it on with my shirt tucked in and talked to cops, preachers and all kinds of people. I have a S&W 9mm. it works great. well worth the money

Take a look at the Kholster. I have one and it's really comfortable.
