What product would best remove all cleaning, lubricating fluid, etc, and leave the cylinder`s of my S&W#53 in Rem. 22 jet dry,and clean to help prevent cartridge blow back ?
Thank`s Don G

Common old Zippo lighter fluid is what they often recommended.
But any non-oily aromatic solvent will do the same.
Rubbing alcohol, or several different paint thinners.

Rubbing alcohol, or several different paint thinners.
This is what I use on my 30-30 revolver to prevent cylinder binding

I would be carefull using rubbing alcohol on steel, as any one who uses alcohol fuel in an model aircraft engine can tell you alcohol attacks moisture and therefor rust :(

Electrical contact cleaner

Mayer Electric sells a brand we use at the shop. I can not for the life of me remember the brand, but it gets things squeaky clean with zero residue. It won't burn or explode like WD-40. Just try WD-40 in a fuse box and make a spark........:uhoh:

model aircraft engine can tell you alcohol attacks moisture and therefor rustThe Nitromethane residue has more to do with that. It is acid.
Besides, the object is to remove everything from the cylinder, and let the alcohol evaporate completely.
That leaves no residue to attract anything.

I've had good results with Gum-out injector cleaner, don't know whats in it just know it worked for me.
Had bad deposits from firing .38's in a .357.

I use NON-CHLORINATED brake cleaner to degrease my firearms. (Wear heavy-duty rubber gloves, or you will need lots of soap and water, followed by a good moisturizing lotion......)
