For some time I've been wanting a Winchester model 94 in .357 magnum. Today a local gunshop has one in new condition but the price is $750.

This one has the short, round barrel and a ring on the side...
Is the $750 price tag too high?

I called and found out this Model 94 is a "AE". What does that mean?

Think about a Rossi Puma or a marlin
$5-600 new or 350 for a nice used one

But I don't want a Rossi Puma or a Marlin. I want a Winchester.

:what: $750.00

That makes me very happy with my investment :D

Good luck with your search.

I've perused gun sites and the $750 seems to be around the
going price for them lately. It seems to be the price "that the market will bear."

A little high? Maybe.

Will it ever decrease in "value" ? Not a chance.

Fun gun, good shooter, lots of heritage. And its a pistol caliber!

If you have the cash laying around and you want it, I would think about getting it.

Is the price too high? Yes it is, but that is what they go for. Buy it if you really want it. There are not a lot of those around. AE means angle eject vise ejecting straight up as the older ones do.

Is it a real Winchester or was it made by US Repeating Arms? If it isn't a real one I wouldn't pay $750. I'd get a marlin or puma.

If you are Jonesing bad, look into a Winchester Legacy model. Pistol grip, tang safety, 24" bbl.

Bid or pay like you want it. :D

I resisted as long as I could and was only able to bargin the price down $25 from asking price but I'm happy. It's a Model 94AE, .357 Magnum Trapper with 16" barrel. Slick [no checkering] stock and looks like it's never been fired. Got the box and all the papers too.

In addition to being what I've wanted for a loooong time, this will be my daughter's deer rifle as well. The indoor range where we shoot pistols will let her shoot it there using .39 spl so she should get plenty of practice...
