I just won a flash supressor for a Mini 14 on ebay and though it did not say it I've seen that there are many that state that they will only fit 2005 or older mini 14 rifles because 05 and newr ones have a different front sight post.
Is this a task a gun smith could perform on my supressor to affix if it will not link up with the newer model I own or did I just buy a worthless chunk of metal? Thanks

It depends on a few things. Is your mini 14 barrel threaded? If not then the gunsmith will have to put the barrel in a lathe and cut threads. If it is then it depends on the thread pitch. What kind of flash suppressor is it? Some require what I call suppressor orientation, where it has a specific up and down requriring a crush washer or a series of peel washers. The best break I've ever seen for that caliber is made by primary weapon systems. It's a flash suppressing muzzle break so it eliminates the muzzle rise and eliminates flash all in one package. Hope that helps.

I'd worry more about brakes than flash suppressors. For most of us, a flash suppressor just looks cool but has no real usefulness. A brake, on the other hand, can somewhat reduce flash while also reducing recoil.
