Nambu-esque grips for a Ruger Mark?

Does anyone make grips for the Ruger Mark series that resemble the Nambu grips (wooden w/ horizontal cuts)? Or can someone recommend somewhere to have a set custom made?

Seeing as how the Nambu was the inspiration for the Standard/Mark guns, I think it'd be a nice tribute.

C-

Wish I could help you out. I've been doing quite a bit of research in an attempt to locate MK II grips made from black micarta without any great success. Since Lett Grips went under a couple of years ago, which is the last place that I found the micarta grips for my MK IIs, I can't recomend them although I'd like to. I haven't seen what you are looking for at any of the manufacturers that I have researched, so you can rule out Hogue, Pachmyar and Ajax.

I suspect that you might have to resort to a custom maker to get what you are looking for.

Luck.

Gun Slinger I can make the Ruger MKII smooth grips in Black Polymer even though it's not listed as a color choice. Just order a set in any color from www.2rco.com and note in your order you want black.

ETA:I'd like to add my apologies to curcuitspore for the unintentional thread hijack. Didn't think that it would evolve into this and I hope that we can get your topic back underway with some help for you. :)

Those are the closest I've seen, so I'll keep them in mind. Too bad they don't come in brown.

circuitspore-

Your last post jogged smething loose in my memory.

Lotta folks "dye" nylon grips using "Rit" to their desired color. These G-10 grips are nothing more than glass reinforced nylon and may just have enough surface porosity to "hold" such a treatment. Failing that, you could also try applying a coat of Krylon "Fusion" paint (this stuff is designed to chemically bond (via solvent reaction) to the plastic that it is applied to) of the approriate color to these grips.

Worth a shot?

I think I'd be more inclined to just pay someone to make some grips for me. ;) Guess it depends on how lazy I'm feeling once I get around to it.

Many thanks for the suggestions.
