New smilie submissions wanted!

Some of us have concluded that the choice of smilies here is boring and we need new/additional ones, so post/link them here and we'll pick about a dozen to stay here on THR. Machine guns, flamethrowers, barfing pumpkins, etc...
I do like this one though ----> :p
Looks like me.

There was one I liked but I can't find it - it's a (purple?) scrutinizing smilie (I think LawDog uses that one?) where one eye half closes in a keen-eyed look, and then the other one does it.
edited to add: At least try to keep them proper for THR - I don't want to see Hello Kitty unless she's got an MP5!

I would like the green :D back. Dunno why I liked him in green, but all the nothing-but-yellow smilies get ... depressing, somehow. Like watching a crowd of college kids, all trying to be different and all looking exactly the same in their differentness.

There are lots of cool smilies, but please consider whether you'd actually want to use them in posts with any reasonable frequency. Also, ideally there should be a :<code>: for each smiley, and that could get tough after a few dozen additions. Huge smileys won't fly. They'll mess up the smilies box. :(

I rather like the new curmudgeonly ones Jason added to 1911Forum.
If you're taking use suggestions, I would submit that too many animated smilies can really deter from posts. I find that at sites where lots of them are offered, they are often overused or used in place of intelligent dialogue. That being said, the "when pigs fly" animation could sure have its uses in "Legal & Political".:D
Politically Incorrect

The beating of a dead horse would come in handy on posts such as 1911 vs. Glock (my vote: 1911) or AK vs. AR (my vote: M1A) or Who in their right mind would ever own a gold Desert Eagle? (answer: me!)

If you go to that site mysmilies.com, you click on a smilie you want to include in a post. At the top of the page, in a little bar, will be a URL. Copy that. (There are even instructions at the top too!)
Then come to whatever forum you want to post that smilie (THR of course! Where else?) and click "post reply."
Under the "Size Font Color" boxes, you will see a box that says "IMG." Click on that, and a box will pop up.
Paste the URL you copied into there, click "OK."
Submit the post.

To be honest, I'm not too wild about some of the smileys. I know they're all in good fun, but I'm sure they're not the image I want associated with me. After all, this is "The High Road." Do we really need a knife through the head, a cursing smiley, or a smiley blasting away with a rifle?
I'm of the mind that if you can't express your ideas thoughtfully with words, then you need to work on your writing skills. I admit that I sometimes use smileys-- usually this one :D -- but only when I wanted to make sure that folks understand that I'm joking. Irony gets lost on some people.
After all the discussions we had on TFL about improper language, do we really need a cursing smiley? Isn't the jist of the message still the same?

My sentiments exactly. Thank you Guyon.
A lot of stuff is cool to look at, cool to play with when you first see it, and a major PITA to live around. I think most of the animations, ESPECIALLY those Guyon mentions, fall in that category.

Please.
There's certainly some smilies that are appropriate for some posts, most aren't - especially those "new & cute" ones.
Especially being THR, the written word should convey the thought process, not some cutsie-thing - even to my own failures & use of them at times. (hangs head)
& Please don't go avitar - allowing personal images of how we'd like the world to see us. (yah! where's the :barf:?)
TFL was so successful due to its plain english style (that & much more), but the distraction of smilies/avaitars was blessedly reduced.
Make for a basic smilie-list & call it good.
Somebody wants to stuff in an off-forum smilie here'n there = OK enough by me, but I'd have the mods keep an eye out & frankly, shut down stuff that gets to be too stupid - based on the tenents of THR.

This one is appropriate considering all the funny things that were posted on TFL.....and will be on THR that made you almost blow your drink of choice all over your monitor.

John Woo style....definitely an accurate portrayal of some people you see at the range.
