I came across a bunch of .30 cal original X-Bullets. I can't get these things to group at all out of a Rem Model 7 .308. Anyone else ever used these? I've read things before that the reason they designed the Triple-Shock is because the originals weren't accurate.

Many rifles get their barrels built up with copper fouling from the old X bullets. Check yours.

If you're loading X-bullets using X-dies.... you might simply be "over X-ed" :D

I have shot Barnes bullets for years. They do tend to foul a barrel somewhat faster than other bullets.

Follow the cleaning advice. Clean your barrel till you get no blue on the patches. Then try seating the bullet to at least .050" off the lands. They are long and like to get moving before getting slammed into the lands. It also doesn't hurt them to be seated deeper either. Just be sure that your working you loads up, and not picking a point and starting in the middle.

One thing about the older bullets, is either rifles liked them or not. IF not they generally shoot patterns and not groups. IF your getting somewhat of a group, then with a clean barrel and seating off the lands some you should see some improvement.

Good luck
