I am considering replacing my Kimber fixed rear site with the Novak adjustable. Any comments on quality/performance would be appreciated.

Um... Your pistol came with a fixed rear black/black sight, right? Not a target model with adjustables and not one with night sights, right?

I don't have experience with the Novak sight.

Depends on if you're looking for a target adjustable sight, or just a slightly adjustable sight with ribs. Which, if you're happy with the rear sight now.. You might make sure the front sight is centered in it's dovetail. I've seen several that aren't.

I have a Kimber Stainless II that came with fixed rear sight. The Kimbers have two different dovetail cuts for the adjustable sight/and fixed sight models. The sight you're referencing was not quite what I was looking for..
I searched high and low, and only found a couple adjustables that fit the fixed dovetail. There are two in Brownells catalog. One is a piece of junk. I don't have experience with the other.

But, I installed a Dawson Precision Target Adjustable sight on my Kimber and use that gun for iron sight Bullseye shooting in and out doors. It holds it's setting well. Dawson recommends a taller front sight, but I've found that it's not needed. It might shoot a little high at 10yds, but I don't shoot that close. With the factory front sight it's dead on at 20-25yds and only a micron low at 50yds with target ammo. So I've never changed the front blade. The notch of the rear Dawson is a bit narrower too. Not so much gap visible when sighting.

Novak says their adjustable fits the Kimber fixed sight dovetail. Mine is a Stainless II also. I will take a look at the dawson. Thanks.

This sight fits the Novak cut and is adjustable for elevation and windage.

I have a Novak cut on two of my 1911’s I used the adjustable sight from Springfield (I think it’s made be LPA). They give an almost bomar sight picture, and have held up well.

North, the OP has a Kimber. The Kimber sight cuts are not the standard Novak cut.

Novak does make sights to fit the Kimber cuts.

Novak "adjustable" sight is only adjustable for elevation. Windage is adjusted by knocking the sight left/right in the dovetail, the same as the Kimber fixed sight requires.
