Howdy- I have been building 1911 '45 acp's for a couple o' years now and have been curious... What's your dream 1911 i.e.: frame, trigger, hammer, firing pin, extractor, trigger group, capacity, sights, etc. and what would you expect to pay???;)

The SA TRP Standard I have on layaway. I dream about it everyday. Months away though, sighhhhh....... I've just spent too much the last couple of months.

It will make it that much more special when you finally get it! Which model did you get?

P.S. Just picked up my first AR - Colt LEO Model 6920 - haven't shot it yet - any pointers? (It's been over 25 years since I shot my last .223 - a M-16 in boot camp)

I put away the TRP SS Standard. It will be my first 1911 and my first .45. Just love the clean look of the satin stainless finish with black grips. Plus I don't need another all black gun!

Either a Clark Custom "Hardballer" build, or a Rogers Precision build.

I don't currently own a 1911 but I've thought enough about it. I think I'd want something that is worthy of some real pride in ownership, but not so precious that I wouldn't be willing to put a hundred rounds through it every Saturday. I'll take a Colt 70 Series reissue in blue, please. Compared to purchasing a Brown or Baer, that'll also leave some serious do-re-mi in my pocket.

I already have a couple of nice semi-customs so I want my next 1911 to be special. I hope to have a full-on custom built and this is what I'd want in it.

Caspian frame and slide with custom serial number, no front cocking serrations
solid Greider aluminum trigger
Kart barrel
Novak Next sight
gold bead front sight
Ed Brown grip safety
French borders
polished flats with matte rounds
rounded butt/MSH
checkered frontstrap and MSH
carry bevel
finished in Ionbond DLC so it'll have a tough, but gorgeous blue-like appearance
I'd leave the choice of the rest of the parts to the smith
and most importantly I'd like it to be built by John Harrison

I'd hope to be able to get this done for $3000-3500.

Something similar to a 30's Vintage Colt National Match. I'd be willing to pay up to $1500.

no skeletonized trigger or hammer
no high ride beaver tail grip safety
no rail
no front grip stippling or checkering
no ambidextrous safety
no MIM
no fiber optic front sight
no plastic/polymer
no sharp edges (I want to shoot it, not shave with it)

Yes high quality forged steel
Yes short trigger and arched MSH
Yes high polished bluing
Yes high quality adjustable rear sight
Yes a high quality and tuned extractor
Yes a wide spur hammer
Yes checked wood grips

A wise and intelligent choice for a first 1911 refreshingly well done.

My dream 1911........
Wilson Combat CQB Compact, in Satin Stainless Steel. With a Mil Sec grip safety. Don't, and never did like the extended beavertail grip safety.

I would love to do a "Dream 1911 Layaway" but most places that I have gone to want it paid off in 90 days.
