Eastern Arms

My wife inherited an old single shot shotgun. She hunted with it as a girl. Using 1 oz. field loads, it patterns well (modified Choke). I found two references to Eastern Arms under Search but no information on the company. Can anyone give any information on eastern arms? Thanks, Byron

I found an Eastern Arms SS 20 ga SG in a pawn shop years ago and bought it for my son to use. It holds its own against the modern ones let me tell you. Ours is a model of 1929 and thus has no serial number.
We refinished it and something in the forearm wood let loose IIRC. I had a local shop (Paradise Sales) order a couple minor parts for it and now its as good as new except for the lack of metal finish.
When we refinished it I guess we sanded a bit much off the bottom side of the grip area and its showing a bit of metal below the wood, and I noticed a hairline crack in the wood on top of the grip in the (tang?) area, so the stock may need replacement eventually. Pat never really got back to me on availability of a replacement stock, but supposedly they're available.
Thats what I know about them. What do you need to know? He pulled out some kind of catalog with the gun & parts in it, so parts are available but possibly limited, it took a while...
Do you need me to try and dig up the info for you from Pat? Is yours a 12 or 20? Mdl of 1929? Any identifying marks to help get the right info? Or was you just curious about it?

Byron,
I did a quick search and found that Eastern Arms Co. was the house brand of Sears Roebuck & Co. up until the 50's or 60's. The guns themselves were made by several different companies including Iver Johnson and J. Stevens.

I Thank you both for the quick and informative response. The shotgun receiver has no serial number. My assumption of the choke being modified was based on the pattern. It is a 20 gauge. On the right side of the barrel is "1929 Model" and on the left side is "proof tested 20 gauge". Under the barrel is the number "91461". It appears to be a "D" abouve it. About an inch under the numbers is a "4". It was her fathers and as indicated she had hunted with it when a girl. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks so much again for responding. Byron

Just pulled my sons out and looked at it, we seem to have the same shotgun. (I think I do recall Pat saying at one point that Sears made it).
The other thing I can tell you is careful thumbing that hammer back, my son AD'd into the air once when we was up skeet shooting with it, pretty strong spring.
Was you just wanting info on it or do you actually need some parts etc.?

Edward, no parts are needed as it is functioning well. I doubt it will see much use but would like to have a parts source if ever needed. Thanks, Byron

OK, next couple three days when I'm over in his area, I'll swing in and get what he's got and post it for you.:)
