I HAVE A H&K USP COMPACT .40 THAT WILL NOT LOCK THE SLIDE OPEN AFTER THE LAST ROUND. DOES THIS WITH ALL 3 MAGS. ONE MAG WILL WORK 3% OF THE TIME. NEED SOME HELP FROM YOU GUYS OUT THERE WITH THE KNOWLEDGE. WANT TO GET THIS RESOLVED BEFORE I GET INTO IDPA FOR THE FIRST TIME. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP AHEAD OF TIME! smrfisheyes

I ain't no gun smith, but:

Are these factory mags? If so, are the mag springs worn out? You might want to try some Wolff springs in them if the make any for the USPc mags. If that doesn't resolve it, it might be a slide stop issue, but I'm just guessing here. My first thought would be the mags though.

BTW, this advice may be worth exactly what you paid for it ;)

Check and see if the slide stop lever is slipping under the mag follower. I had this issue with another pistol and had to send it back to be fixed.

It meant that the slide would not stay open, nor would the mag come out very easy...definitely not something to do in IDPA.

I don't mean to be a jerk here, but the fact that you are a new member and think caps-lock is a good idea tells me that you just might think riding the slide release with your thumb while shooting is a good idea too.

The USP slide release is rather pronounced (it sticks out far). Double-check and make sure you aren't using the slide release as a shelf to rest your thumbs on. If you do this, your slide won't lock back after the last round in a magazine.

It could be partially "out" of the frame too. If not, and all else is in proper trim and fit, change out your magazine springs. I'm guessing that will fix the problem.
