I'm not leaving Alaska either, but I wish this project great success!

When you think about it, New Hamshie is a great choice because of the early presidential primaries. It will give a boost to the best candidates.

Ah, this is good news. I don't know if I'd be willing to give up my ability to vote in Republican primaries, but I'll be moving to NH within the month anyway, so I'll keep a close eye on the cause.

>I don't know if I'd be willing to give up my ability to vote in Republican primaries,

NH has fusion (candidates may be endorsed by more than one party). So I think it's actually better for Republicans who want to vote for the occasional Libertarian or semi-mythical pro-gun Democrat.

I am on my way, just give me a couple years to finish college...

I will do what I can from home until then.

"Kathy Sullivan, state Democratic Party chairwoman, said project members "can best be described as anarchists."

Stupid :cuss:bag...

Althought I'm not a big proponent of the "take over the state" concept, this stupid woman doesn't have even the faintest whiff of a clue.

That's way cool. I'd move to NH just for the license plate.

Maybe it is that I am young and niave and full of ...
hope, but this project puts a very real smile on my face.

I am moving just because of the company I like to keep.

This was a foregone conclusion... the voting method chosen was designed to bring about this outcome... probably because the project is run by Noreasters...

Anyway, even if they get all 20,000 to move there, Alaska will still have more independant, libertarian people than New Hampshire.

Choosing NH makes me believe the FSP is not ever going to be successful.

Lets hope I'm wrong and they actually start developing a plan to create a free state (rather than just recruiting pseudo-libertarians for the project.)

If I weren't an old man, I'd pack up and move to New Hampshire. Sounds as though these folks have a solid grip on the old-fashioned American ideal.

Having been born, raised, and educated in NH, it will always have a soft spot in my heart. Spent much time backpacking in the White mtns., as a youth..what a shame that their state symbol, "the old man in the mountains" collapsed recently.

Much talk about the fact that NH has no state sales or income tax. A lot less talk about the outrageous property taxes ($40 per thousand!! assessed valuation in some towns)...though NH still attracts refugees from neighboring Taxachusetts.:D

Overall, I think the free-staters could make an impact, esp. if they could establish a voting bloc in a small town, which seem to have a great deal of autonomy, compared to other states.

...and I'd love for the nationally-hyped pres. primary returns, from Dixville Notch, NH (first in the nation), to show a stunning libertarian victory in an upcoming election!

But don't forget your snow shovels, boys.;)

I signed on to this project awhile back. I hope I can make it happen. :)

Very good point. But at least the taxes are all in one place, with a yearly bill (admittedly, a big bill)... instead of being spread around and hidden as much as possible. NH still has very low per-capita tax rates.

And NH only gets back 70 cents of each Federal tax dollar... so there's that much less Federal "help" for education, public housing projects, public "art", etc.

Bit farther north than I like, but it has two borders for trade. My wife and I are looking at it in the near furture. ( already susing land).

I'll second that, GRD. "Live Free or Die" -- how can you beat that motto?
