NO! He would be arrested. You will have to have him ship it, i think UPS will, but there is a "haz mat" fee. I think.

It takes a licensed Hazmat shipper to ship the gunpowder to you. You're better off just ordering from one of the on-line sellers who can legally ship it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! For god's sake they confiscated my Toothpaste and Rightguard I was an ounce overlimit on each when I flew to Denver a couple weeks ago. The TSA guy made a big deal out of it on the toothpaste! By the way stick deodorant is fine gel is evil. If you want locked up fly with gunpowder!

You can check ammo if you do it right, but not powder or primers. (Luggage, not carry-on)

Since I'm from the glorious Sawth but go to school in UT I brought about 15 lbs of metallic components (bullets and brass) that I got for Christmas back across the country and the apes tore through it like a pack of dogs on a three-legged cat. Surprisingly no damage, but it apparently didn't bother them that I had my 11 lb limit of live ammo in my other bag.

Anyway, DON'T TAKE POWDER OR PRIMERS! I read up on it because I was hoping that I could technically (being that legally it's not an explosive) bring powder back as well, but decided I've got better things to do than be 'Bubba's special friend.' :eek:

I find the best way to take gunpowder is to pack it into old paper towel tubes and then tape the ends closed with duct tape. I don't want the tubes to roll around in my luggage so I just secure them together with wire, the kind used from an extension cord is great. So I don't forget to unpack the powder when I get home, I attach a small travel alarm clock to the bundle of tubes with zip ties, and set it to signal an alarm sometime after I am supposedly home. Those small clock batteries are always dying so I replace them with a large 6-volt lantern battery, and I use some more wire to link it to the clock. Just tape the battery to the bundle with the clock.

The TSA guys will think it is great!

I left Sky Harbor back when flying was easy and had 1000 158gr bullets that I got a smoking deal on in my carry on. You would have thought I had a ton of fertilizer and diesel fuel. The higher I went up the chain of command the dumber they got. Finally asked them what they would do if they were fishing sinkers? Dumb looks and clear to board. Gun Powder yea don't do it!

I've flown with a firearm and ammunition, which are legal, but you have to follow the rules and do the declarations properly. It all depends on who the ticket clerk is, and who the TSA inspector is. Most of the ticket clerks I've encountered have been just fine, since I make my declarations in writing, and have a copy for them, if they want it. They've never asked to keep the copy and it's no big deal. The same with the TSA, for the most part.

Flying out of Las Vegas, I got held up by the TSA inspector because he saw on my declaration that I had a Springfield XD. He was considering buying one for himself and wanted to know all about it. How it felt in the hand, how accurate it is, etc. He was excited to talk to someone who actually carried one.

The only place they gave me any hassle at all was flying out of Memphis, TN. The TSA inspector there was feeling pretty self important and did a full inspection of both my firearm and my luggage. I just let him do his thing, watched him go through all my dirty clothes, and was on my way afterwards. It made him feel better and I saw him for the "wanna be" he was, so no big deal.

As for gunpowder, it's on the list of prohibited items, so there isn't any way to take it. I will watch for Evan Price on the evening news, though, to see how he makes out......
