Well, I bought a new Marlin .30-30 and yesterday I took it on it's first hog hunt and was pleased to use it to bag a 250lb sow. :)

I shot at her at 150 yards on a slight downhill slope using 150gr Winchester Power Points. Hit her behind the shoulder and dropped her DRT where she was standing. Just Bang! Flop. That was it.

Not bad for the first time out with a new rifle :D

With so many good calibers on the market, the 30-30 sometimes gets forgotten, but the game that I have shot with it couldn't tell it wasn't a 375 H&H.

Dead is dead.

It's a Burris Fullfield II 3X-9X-40. I like it so far :)

Where are all the .30-.30 "nay-sayer's" now? Nice work, congrats! I teeter on the looks of a lever with a scope, but you my freind are selling me on it's effectiveness...

Nice Hog! And nice rifle! I shot one Tuesday afternoon but I cheated. I did a head shot (under ear/behind eye) with my .270 :scrutiny:
