I presume you mean a cap & ball > metallic cartridge conversion. They make conversion cylinders for a number of cap & ball revolvers, but they are mostly Colt's or the Remington New Army .44

Go to www.cimarron-firearms.com to see some examples.

yes im talking about cap n ball. its a f.llipietta 44 im not sure if its a new army or navy. the cly sits inside the frame. on some the cly. is open on top and you have the notch in the hammer. i think those are colt navy? im going to try to find some pics of six shooters to see if i can figure out what i have. i bought it at a pawn shop. and they aint sure what it was patterned after either. i like the way it shoots

The .44 models are considered to be "Army," while the .36 models are called "Navy." Go to the link I provided and you will find all sorts of guns - with pictures. :)

Just remember.
These conversion cylinders are rated to be used on Steel Framed C&B Revolvers not Brass Framed because the brass will not withstand the battering of the higher pressured loads of cartridges even at cowboy action loads & eventually streatch or at worse crack.

Cool then all you'll need to know is the caliber .44 or .36 "just to be sure" & if it is a Pietta or a Uberti, other makers is possible but in some cases are a hit or miss on parts compatability.

www.taylorsfirearms.com (http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/products/detail-accessories.tpl?subcategory=Conversion%20Cylinders) has some conversion cylinders for both Uberti & Pietta.

Cowboy loads are reduced power loads usually topped off with a lead projectile mostly for target shooting at metal silouett {sp} targets.

In your case for a .45 Colt something like this http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=141558 would do quite nicely.

You can reload your own to save money but just remember to keep the velocities around or below the cylinder's manufacturers recomendation.
