I just purchased my 1st reloader, just waiting on delivery. I plan on reloading 9mm with spent winchester brass I have shot, wit 115fmj. I was looking at different bullets and noticed some are marked .355 and so on, with a few different sizes. Is this the diameter? I dont know what to buy. I thought 9mm 115gr. ammo was the same. I dont want to sound stupid by asking this, I just dont want to order the wrong thing.

Hey man im new to this too. Don't feel stupid for asking questions no matter how trivial they may seem. I'd rather feel stupid asking questions than feel stupid for blowing my hand off at the range.

FMJ should be .355 and plated & lead will normally be .356.
Welcome

Yes .355 is the dia.
115 gr to 125 gr. is the weight of the bullet.

Suggestion, and I'm not saying this to stop you from asking questions, buy a couple of reloading manuals and read. A very good one is the Lyman manual #49.

I believe reloading is a continual learning process, been doing it for 40 plus years and still learning. Either that or I'm VERY forgetful.

It's not a stupid question....Yes, the .355 is the diameter of the bullet. You can buy all different grains 115, 124,125,147, all will load in 9MM. I'm reloading 125 gr lead round nose ( LRN ). You can see by the load chart below the differnt grains and starting loads for them. Just click cartridge loads and the caliber, 9MM and It'll give you all the info for every gr.

If you're going to be reloading for target, consider using lead bullets, they'll be a lot cheaper than fmj, there's a few links below.

Welcome to the club!!

+1 on the reading and learning. Check you local library. Ask them to buy "The ABC's of Reloading".

All the best.
