Picked up a model 48 this week with both 22 mag and 22 lr cylinders. Took it to the range today, and am getting alot of misfire/light hammer strikes in double action. This is with the 22 mag cylinder. Didnt try the LR cylinder.
I made certain the strain screw is completely tight.
Anyone have another possible solution to the problem? Also how can I tell if I have the factory mainspring in the gun?
Any help appreciated,
Tom

It could be a weak mainspring, but I don't know how to tell if it is original to the gun. Also, it is remotely possible that your strain screw is tight but someone shortened it.

What type of ammo are you shooting?

Try CCI Mini Mags

I just measured the strain screw. It appears to have been shortened. I believe stock screw is .610. Mine measured .575 Looks as thought it was filed.
As for ammo. I shot cci maxi mags 40 gr solids, remington 40 gr solids, and winchester 40 gr solids. All exibited some misfires, no exceptions.

Will order a new screw, and see how it goes.
Thanks for the help
Tom
