Just trying to identify a set of rcbs 280 imp dies, are they the same as 280 remington dies.

Don't believe they are the same. The .280 Remington is not the same as the .280 Improved. There are a couple different versions of the improved from what I quickly read as well......."the 280 Ackley Improved and the 280 Remington Improved RCBS are basically the same except for shoulder angle. With the standard chamber and neck diameter of 0.318, the factory 280 Remington cartridges can be fired to produce the improved cases. The neck junction is set back 0.004" in the 280 AI chamber for a tight fit when standard 280 Remington cases are fired."

No! Nor is data for the improved recommended for the std cartridge. You can however use 280 Rem ammo, and data for the improved.

AI cases are typically less body taper, or even straight-wall, and a 40degree shoulder.
I imagine you can neck-size and bullet seat with either die set. If you are fire-forming, then you should be good to go.
